INcycle

The smart solution to encourage the recycling of PPE and other environmental waste

THE COVID-19 PROBLEM

The use of plastics without recycling them has always been a major environmental issue. The Covid-19 pandemic has drastically increased the need for medical equipment such as masks, gowns, screens etc. as well as packaged goods such as hand sanitizers, which in turn have exacerbated the issue of unsustainable disposal and lack of recycling of single-use and other plastics. How can we improve the efficiency and transparency of the recycling value-chain?

THE SOLUTION

INcycle will connect the key decision makers by aligning their incentives through 3 main interfaces:

1. Smart bins in commercial areas: Colour-coded, IoT-enabled bins collecting data on volume, weight and type of waste. Aggregated bin data enables monitoring and tracking, thus improving the efficiency of the tracking system

2. Enterprise application for manufacturers and recyclers: App connects recyclers to manufacturers (buyers), and vice versa. Allows enterprises to monitor stock level, availability of waste by type, quality and supplier

3. Disposal-assistant (user-facing application): Computer vision integrated app guides users to dump in the appropriate bin. Tracking personal carbon impact through gamification, social sharing and point redemption through sponsors
