THE COVID-19 PROBLEM

The plight of COVID-19 has revealed how unprepared we are, both as a society and as individuals, in the face of a public health crisis. We have largely shied away from considering tough questions as: do I want to be resuscitated? Who should decide on the withdrawal of my life support? Many loved ones are currently forced to guess patients’ wishes and make these decisions on behalf of patients in coma, especially as ventilators are in short supply, bringing with it devastating emotional toll. This highlights an immediate need for widespread awareness of the need to confront and decide on these topics, as well as a tool to resolve this problem by inscribing our preferences in a legally reliable way.

THE SOLUTION 

LifeVault aims to provide an easy-access repository of crucial decisions, simple declarations pertaining to one’s autonomous choices on life, advanced medical care, and legacy planning. We are a team of lawyers, a medical doctor, and an engineer seeking to design a platform as such to document these records.
