Experience live demonstrations of innovative VR simulators designed to train doctors and nurses in life-saving procedures like CPR and heart-lung machine management. Learn how these advanced tools enhance skills, save costs, and address healthcare workforce shortages by providing realistic, immersive training tailored to hospital needs. We’ll also discuss the key challenge of commercializing these advancements within an academic hospital setting.

Meet the experts:

• Dr. Edris Mahtab: Cardiothoracic surgeon and founder of the Leiden Amsterdam Artificial Intelligence and eXtended Realities (LAIXR) group. He developed innovative VR simulators for training in critical medical procedures.
• Sam Max: MD and PhD who collaborates with Dr. Mahtab to create the advanced VR training tools.
• Stéfan Ellenbroek: Program Director at unlock_ the Life Science and Health incubator in Leiden. He specializes in bringing medical innovations from development to the market.
