Exclusive Site Visit in State-of-the-art-Production Pharmacy
Just a few years ago dr. Marleen Kemper (at the time Hospital Pharmacist/ Clinical Pharmacologist in the Amsterdam UMC) got international press attention because she and a physician colleague stood up against a Pharma Company Leadiant who increased the price of a rare disease product irrationally. They started compounding the product in the Amsterdam Hospital Pharmacy to provide patients their essential medicine and got wide support for their initiative. It was a logical career move for her to devote her talent in making (non-commercial) products available to patients. She decided to move to Apotheek A15,and become Managing Director in this state-of- the-art Good Manufacturing Practice production pharmacy located in Gorinchem.
Apotheek A15 is a collaboration between Erasmus Medical Center, University Medical Center Groningen, Radboud Medical Center and University Medical Center Utrecht and is founded to maintain knowledge and to preserve and supply The Netherlands with essential – non-commercial – medication.
Apotheek A15 produces and delivers all types of medications, both in stock as well as compounded and is equipped with:
– ca. 2.000 m² cleanrooms
– a full pharmaceutical and microbiological laboratory
– professional back-up facilities
On the 21th of November you will have the opportunity to visit Apotheek A15 and participate in an interactive afternoon with fellow alumni. During the event, there will be an inspiring presentation by Marleen Kemper and an exclusive tour guided by Marleen Kemper and Robert Kapel (Operational Director).
