We gladly invite you to attend the SIN Venture Pitch evening on Wednesday November 21, starting at 18.30hrs, kindly hosted at Cargill in Amsterdam (Schiphol).
SIN: the Venture Investment Community for and by INSEAD alumni
SIN (Salamander Investment Network) is the venture investment fund owned and operated by INSEAD Alumni in the Netherlands. Three times per year we organize a Venture Pitch event for early-stage start-ups to pitch their business plans to our community and other interested alumni. When the SIN community deems the venture promising, we follow-up and an investment is made, either through the fund and/or by members privately. Among the shareholders there is a great sense of community.
On November 21 we will have 3 interesting startups that pitch their plans for us.
The Low Power Global Area Network: It’s really going to happen. If you’ve got waterwells in California, potato fields in East Africa, or trains across Europe and Asia, this changes everything. Whatever you want to monitor. Wherever it is. Hiberband® from Hiber® is the solution you need. Hiberband is the first Low Power Global Area Network (LPGAN), offered by Hiber. Hiberband delivers global connectivity for sensor and Internet of Things (IoT) related devices at affordable cost, by launching our own satellite network. This makes our service the first true global IoT network.
Water from air without Energy. Water is our first necessity in life, that is the reason water shortage is such a serious global challenge. Affected are every continent around the world and not just those regions that are traditionally dry. It already affects around 2.8 billion people around the world at least one month out of every year. Sponsh offers affordable, off-grid, zero-energy water. Sponsh material is an extremely versatile material. It behaves like a textile and can be applied in many different ways. The technology is currently in the prototyping phase. The products below are examples of future applications and are not for sale yet. Sales are expected to start end of 2019.
Amberscript is a young AI startup from Amsterdam, founded by INSEAD Alumni. Amberscript builds SaaS software that enables users to automatically transcribe audio into text using speech recognition, helping users avoid the costs and pain of manually transcribing their interviews, meetings, or other audio. The Amberscript speech to text engine has best-in-class results and is being used by thousands of journalists, scientists, students, doctors and lawyers worldwide.
After the pitches, there will be social drinks & bites (no dinner), and there will be opportunity to learn more about the SIN fund. SIN is still looking to expand the fund and Alumni can become a shareholder/investor for 890 euro per share (current price), see Google Doc for more info.
We hope to see many of you. For further information about SIN you can reach out to Daan Wilms van Kersbergen (firstname.lastname@example.org), Samuel Gerssen (email@example.com) or Pieter Kraaijeveld (firstname.lastname@example.org).
