December 10, 2024 from 12:45 to 16:00hrs
Are you intrigued by sustainable and regenerative agriculture and eager to see it in action? Visit the Farm of the Future in Flevoland, managed by Wageningen University & Research. Here, you can witness the latest technologies and methods in sustainable regenerative agriculture firsthand. Explore the Fieldlab, Agroecology, and Technology Living Labs.
To address the challenges of open vegetable cultivation, a shift to circular agriculture is essential. This approach emphasizes the continuous reduction of external inputs and lessens the impact on the environment. It focuses on restoring soil and water quality, enhancing biodiversity, and utilizing natural predators to manage pests and diseases. The project offers a comprehensive blueprint for this Farm of the Future.
Our plant production systems are resilient, climate-robust, and capable of withstanding floods and droughts. Arable farming, livestock farming, and horticulture are interconnected, reusing each other’s by-products and maximizing the use of sustainable energy. This transformative cultivation system demands cutting-edge technology to succeed. Circular farms aim to minimize energy consumption and maximize the use of renewable energy. The Farm of the Future serves as a hub for this revolutionary shift, employing state-of-the-art insights and technologies to meet the future challenges of agriculture.
