Business Improv 101

March 31, 2019
2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Ingrid’s Place

1710 Dasmarinas Ave. Dasmarinas Village, Makati

“The power of ‘Yes, and…’ at work.”

What is Improv?
Improv – short for “improvisation” – is the art of unscripted theatre.  In business, improv is applied to improve critical skills like communication, collaboration, creativity and agility.

Utilizing the 3 key principles of improv:

  • Yes, And (Communication and Acceptance);
  • Make Others Look Good (Collaboration and Teamwork); and
  • There are No Mistakes (Agility and Creativity)
Participants emerge from improv workshops more engaged and collaborative. They emerge with more confidence in their ability to listen, postpone judgement, react and play to the top of their intelligence.

“Improvisation – and the improv toolkit – offers great grounding for leaders challenged to thrive in a business climate that demands agility, resilience, quick thinking, and ease with ambiguity. Counterintuitive as it might seem, business is often an act of improvisation, not planning.”
    -Harvard Business Review, 2015

Applied improv is the ultimate in experiential learning: fully participatory, out-of-the-box, really fun and totally engaging. It will get everyone out of their comfort zones and applying their new skills straight away, resulting in long-term, meaningful change.

Improv for Business 101 – Play at Work
Participants will play some simple warm ups to get themselves comfortable playing with each other and the facilitator. The warm up will serve as a primer for games and concepts touched upon later in the workshop. This workshop will focus on active listening and clear, concise communication.

    3 Key Improv Principles:
  • Yes, and…
  • Make Others Look Good
  • There are No Mistakes

Apply the 3 key improv principles to add play to everyday work:
  • Improve communication, collaboration, agility and ideation
  • Be more confident with the unexpected
  • Get out of your comfort zone

This event is free for members and there is a nominal charge of P500 for non-members.  RSVP: [email protected] at least 24 hours in advance of event start.
