About Carmina

Carmina is the CEO and Co-Founder of InvestEd- the Philippines’ leading provider of education loans to student dreamers. InvestEd enables the public to invest in loans to unbanked college students, through a pro-poor and pro-student credit scoring algorithm and a borrower success program. With its mission to revolutionize student loans for the developing world, InvestEd has provided financial aid to hundreds of students across 120 schools, and garnered numerous awards such as Cartier Women’s Initiative Award, Dubai World Expo’s Top 100 Global Innovators, and World Education Congress’ EdTech Leadership Award.

Carmina strongly believes that education is the key to any nation’s advancement. As a college student, she was already managing multiple scholarship funds through her youth organizations. Over the past 8 years, she has also trained more than 6,000 youth in topics of employment, financial literacy, peace building, and entrepreneurship. Following her curiosity about how business models played a role in social change, Carmina worked with Smarter Good Inc. to raise millions of dollars for youth-focused social enterprises. She also worked on projects with leading institutions such as Ashoka, Australian National University, Lutheran World Relief, UNDP, and USAID.

After years of immersion in the problem of education financing, both locally and globally, Carmina decided it was time to start InvestEd. Her dream to this day is to see a world where every young person has the opportunity to fulfill their dreams and help others do the same.
