Sustainable Innovation Series: A Fresh Conversation on Partnering: the Need for Boats & Bridges
Tuesday 17 July 4 – 6.30pm at Amphi Roskothen
Please join us for our inaugural Sustainable Innovation panel discussion.
Held in Association with Singapore Management University, Boats & Bridges is an interactive conversation for partnering practitioners that provides fresh perspectives and new angles for navigating partnering complexity, focusing on mindset shifts needed to accelerate and encourage successful partnerships that achieve sustainability and innovation.
Panelists include:
Reshmi Rajendran EMBA’16D
Alexander Lau Innovation Lab, Transformation Office Public Service Division, Prime Minister’s Office
Anne Lochoff – Strategic Advisor World Vision
“Boats & bridges”, taken from Sujin Jang’s 2017 research paper “Cultural Brokerage and Creative Performance in Multicultural Teams”, asserts that partnerships require both “boats,” people who are third culture people who can discern and ask probing, thoughtful questions across different partners, and “bridges,” people who have lived and worked in the different contexts of the partnership and can speak the languages of the different actors and facilitate bridging of perspectives and understanding.
This event will tap and strengthen the existing multi-sector partnership ecosystem in Singapore with an interactive, advanced conversation around complicated, complex and persistent challenges that need to be tackled in new ways. We will explore and practice a system-centric design approach to tackle the complexity of the partnership approach. This fresh perspective for most practitioners will encourage a move away from the traditional and narrower end-user centricity.
