16 Nov Deadline to Regsiter for IWIB Swiss Mentoring Program 2019

Dear fellow INSEAD alumni,
It is with great pleasure that we announce the launch of the second edition of the IWIB Swiss Mentoring Program.

Registration for IWIB Swiss Mentoring Program 2019
Deadline: November 16, 2018

You are invited to participate in the second edition of the IWIB Swiss Mentoring Program. Last year, sixty INSEAD alumni enrolled in the IWIB Pilot Mentoring program. Based on the feedback from roughly half the participants through survey and qualitative insight events, we learned that

100% wish the program to continue
93% would clearly recommend other alumni to participate,
93% would like to enrol again in the program, either in current role or switching roles

What is mentoring?

Mentoring is a voluntary non-profit relationship aimed at the development of the individual, both professionally and personally, in which two persons are involved (Mentors & Mentees). Mentor provides informal guidance to Mentee to help her/him carry out significant transitions in the level of knowledge, work and way of thinking; the objective is to enable the Mentee to fully apprehend her/his current role, his/her potential and foster personal and professional development”

It is different from Coaching in that
▪ Coaching is aimed at enhancing skills to improve task proficiency
▪ Coaching content is well-structured, while Mentoring is more informal
▪ Coaching goal are related to performance, while Mentoring goals are focused on development

What is the IWIB Swiss Mentoring Program?

The second edition of the IWIB Swiss Mentoring Program runs from November 2018 to December 2019 with an assessment by the end of September 2019. INSEAD alumni who would like to participate as mentee, mentor or both are proposed a maximum of two to three potential matches by December 10, 2018. Applicants have until the end of January 2019 to meet and provide us with their feedback so that we can pair one mentee with one mentor. The final pairing will be announced by February 11, 2019 to enable mentors and mentees to start the actual mentoring sessions.

A toolkit will be provided to facilitate the sessions and support the program.

In order to cover the costs, we ask mentees to pay CHF100 to participate in the IWIB Swiss Mentoring Program. (XING link below). This fee is refundable in case we do not find an appropriate mentor.

Who can participate to the IWIB Swiss Mentoring Program?

The IWIB Swiss Mentoring Program is open to all genders and all generations. Mentees are not restricted to new graduates only, they could equally be alumni going through a significant career transition. We strongly encourage INSEAD women graduates to become mentees and mentors in the program. As a mentee, defining your goal and clarifying your expectations is essential. Bear in mind that mentoring is not a channel for job search. Do not expect that mentoring will provide you with your next job.

How to register to the IWIB Swiss Mentoring Program?

To register as a mentor or mentee or both, kindly complete the Mentoring Application Form (download Application form) and send it to [email protected] by November 16, 2018. If you apply as a mentee, the fee of CHF100 shall be paid on XING by November 16 too.

The Mentoring Application Form is essential. It will help us suggest to the participants potentially matching mentors and mentees.

Please take this into consideration that we are a volunteer organization and appreciate your understanding that we do not have the resources to chase you for missing information or late submissions.

We look forward to welcoming you to the IWIB Swiss Mentoring Program and at an INSEAD alumni event soon.

4 Dec Anything is possible! w/ Celine van Till

Dear INSEAD Alumni,
You are invited to a lunch conference in Geneva featuring Celine van Till, an inspiring speaker, a Paralympic athlete, champion, writer, entrepreneur, Board member, and a model of resilience.

Celine van Till, Paralympic athlete and entrepreneur
A gifted and talented horse-rider, Celine started riding at the age of 6 and soon revealed her strong competitive spirit. In 2007, she won a 5th place in the junior Swiss dressage championships, which opened the doors of the national junior team. But in 2008, her life totally changed: while training in Germany, she had a serious horse-riding accident and was plunged into a month-long coma, which she came out of partially tetraplegic, aphasic, and partially sighted.A strong, beautiful and resilient mind, she gradually regained trust in herself and her horse. Just two years after her accident, she was able to reach the highest level in para-dressage and went on to represent Switzerland at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. In 2018, she closed the horse-riding chapter of her life and now focuses on her next objective: to represent Switzerland in athletics at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic games, which she is striving for with more determination than ever.
