Joseph Jimenez, Chief Executive Officer, Novartis

Since his appointment to CEO in 2010, Mr. Jimenez has also been leading the company’s healthcare portfolio in innovative pharmaceuticals, eye care and generics. Previously, he served as Division Head, Novartis Pharmaceuticals where he transformed thepharmaceuticals portfolio, significantly increasing the percentage of sales from newly launched products, as well realigning the commercial approach to focus on individual needs of customers, introducing more technological tools to better connect with patients and customers. He joined in 2007 as Division Head, Novartis Consumer Health. Previously, Mr. Jimenez was CEO of H.J. Heinz, North America, after four years as CEO of Heinz, Europe. His earlier career included a directorship at AstraZeneca PLC, United Kingdom, and advisory to Blackstone Group. Mr. Jimenez is a member of the board of directors of Colgate-Palmolive Company, New York. He graduated in 1982 with a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and in 1984 with a Master of Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley, both in the United States.
