Sustaining high performance: Is it realistic?
Wednesday 1 March

Many of us thrive in dynamic, fast-paced work cultures, but the 21st century workplace can be a double-edged sword. All too easily, we live on adrenaline, seldom relax and become drained, lose our edge and face burn-out.

Technology has normalised constant multi-tasking, which destroys our capacity for powerful and purposeful thinking. Neuroscience tells us that concentration, attention and focus are the keys to great performance, while the workplace world pulls us in many directions at once.

Our panel, will discuss how we can be savvier about how we manage our working lives to unlock higher levels of performance, and how we can manage our energy to sustain long and successful careers. Our panel comprises:

Rachel Arkle is founder and CEO of Yoke Consultancy, which seeks to empower workforces with sustainable wellbeing and performance. Yoke works with banks, professional services firms and corporates on wellbeing strategy, assessment, training and culture change programmes.

Jason Hargaden is Head of Partners’ Tax at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, formerly a partner at Grant Thornton and a Director at Deloitte.

Peter Lacy (IEP 07D) is Global Managing Director, Accenture Strategy, Growth & Sustainability and a member of its Global Leadership Council. He is a trusted strategic advisor to top executives and leadership teams around the world on strategy and sustainability.

Megan Reitz is Associate Professor at Ashridge where her core research interest lies in mindful leadership. Before entering academia, Megan was part of the founding team at in the 1990s. She then pursued a consulting career at Deloitte and Kalchass Group.
