CEO panel: Growing healthcare businesses – is this different?

Growing healthcare businesses
Thursday 19 May

This event is supported by Pictet

A panel of experienced CEOs who are working to expand healthcare and pharmaceutical businesses will reflect on achieving profitable growth in a highly regulated, expertise-dependent, quality-driven and publicly visible sector. Although underpinned by favourable demographic trends, this sector presents very specific challenges. The discussion will explore what effect, if any, these particular criteria have on business decision-making and outcomes.

How different is the path to business success in the healthcare sector compared to others? What might the healthcare sector learn from other sectors? These questions will underpin an interactive discussion as the CEO’s articulate their plans for further growth.

Christophe Berthoux is CEO of Synexus, a leading global site management organisation with a network of 28 dedicated clinical trial sites and 68 affiliate sites. Christophe is a veterinary practitioner by training, before working at Charles River, a global clinical trials business.

Andy Black is Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Kinapse, which delivers advisory, capability-building and operational services to the life sciences industries. Andy was a surgeon before working in management consulting with Accenture. Kinapse has recently obtained its next round of private equity growth investment from HgCapital.

Following a doctorate in molecular immunology, an INSEAD MBA and consulting at Accenture, Stuart was a private equity investor in the healthcare sector at August Equity and 3i.

Moderator: Nermeen Varawalla (MBA 00D) is Executive Vice President at Lambda Therapeutic Research, a clinical trials business in the Intas Bio Pharmaceutical Group, where Nermeen leads clinical drug development for FDA and EMA registration.
