Covid19 has had a massive impact on many industries including financial services. This crisis has highlighted the importance of leveraging technology and being able to conduct business in a digital way. During this session, we will hear from industry leaders, one who is digitally transforming an international bank with over 230,000 employees and the other who has launched several digital native businesses.

Josh Bottomley (MBA 93D) is Global Head of Digital, Data and Development at HSBC. He is responsible in WPB (Wealth & Personal Banking) for the teams developing online and mobile customer journeys and the use of data and analytics to create ‘intelligent banking’. He is also accountable for business development including the identification of Group wide digitally-led propositions.
He joined HSBC in 2013 as Global Head of Digital and before that he was global head of display for Google in California, overseeing a $5bn business and the company’s largest non-search revenue engine. He previously spent 12 years in general management roles in publishing, data and business services working as managing director for LexisNexis and managing director of The Financial Times Group. His early career was at Goldman Sachs and McKinsey. Josh has an economics Degree from Trinity College, Cambridge and an MBA from INSEAD.
Giles Andrews OBE (MBA 97D) is the Co-founder of Zopa, the world’s first peer-to-peer lending business launched in March 2005. It has now made over £5bn in loans to consumers, with over £1bn lent in the last 12 months. His entrepreneurial spirit extends to other organisations including Chairman of carwow, Bethnal Green Ventures, Monedo Holdings GmbH, and MarketFinance. He is also a board members of several organisations and Government groups, including City of London/Innovate Finance FinTech Strategy Group and Department for International Trade FinTech Board.
Moderator: Louise Brett is Europe Head of Innovation & FinTech at Deloitte UK. Louise is a Senior Partner in Deloitte Digital and Head of FinTech and Financial Services Innovation at Deloitte North West Europe, working across the ecosystem with Financial Services clients, government bodies, regulators, advisors, VCs, and the broader FinTech community.
A natural innovator and practical strategist, Louise has been at the forefront of shaping Deloitte’s response to FinTech for the benefit of our clients, the FinTechs, and the wider ecosystem. She has advised government bodies on the development of the UK’s FinTech strategy, worked with clients to partner and scale FinTechs in answer to business challenges, and has advised leading FinTechs on scaling their businesses.
