Business as a Force for Good – what they don’t teach you in Business school
Sir Paul Marshall will look at the challenges facing business as it seeks to act as a force for good, the problems with many of the prevailing business orthodoxies and the weaknesses in the ‘theories of change’ taught in business schools and universities.
Sir Paul Marshall (MBA 85J) is CIO and Chairman of Marshall Wace LLP, a global hedge fund with headquarters in London. He is a founding Trustee of Ark, the children’s charity, and Chairman of Ark Schools, a leading academy provider. He is Founder and Chairman of the Education Policy Institute. In April 2015, he co-founded the Marshall Institute for Philanthropy and Social Entrepreneurship at LSE.
Marshall served as Lead-Non-Executive Director at the Department for Education from 2013 to 2016. He was knighted in Her Majesty’s Birthday Honours’ list in June 2016 for services to education and philanthropy.
He holds an MBA from INSEAD and a BA (Hons) from St John’s College, Oxford University.
