Lunchtime Sessions: Crafting Your Story & Your Elevator Pitch
Monday 9 November, 12:30 – 14:00 GMT
Join fellow INSEAD alumni to for an immersive 90-minute workshop to design and practice your elevator pitch. This is sure to be an invaluable opportunity for alumni seeking to build a work portfolio of consulting gigs, freelancing, and interim management.
What happens when you have a short amount of time to spike the interest of a client or an interviewer? You will always be faced with the dreaded, “Tell me about yourself” question. And this can be your chance to stand out. So if you start with “It’s complicated…”, you will not go very far. Actually, it takes a bit of preparation but it’s not very hard. So be prepared and don’t miss the opportunity you are given.
In this session, Antoine Abou-Samra (MBA 04J) will help you craft your key elevator pitch. All participants will get an opportunity to prepare, practice and pitch their stories in small breakout groups.
This session will help you understand what makes a pitch work, the key elements and how to prepare for it. At the end of the session, you should have a workable elevator pitch.
Antoine is a 3-time CEO and entrepreneur with more than 25 years’ experience (sorry no grey hair…) spanning multiple industries and geographies. Some examples of his work include the turnaround of a Spanish high-end decorative accessory company moving it from a loss to profit within a year, the growth of an international professional educational company based in Lebanon (ie through acquisition in the UK), or the strategic development and fund raising of a British publisher. He is a keen University instructor who has taught at MBA, Master, and undergraduate levels (Valuation, Strategic Management, Leadership, and Entrepreneurship) at University of The Holy Spirit Kaslik and Phoenicia University. He also ran executive seminars. Today, he supports executives to reach their full potential in his Executive Coaching practice through one-on-one sessions (https://proedlearning.com/SafeSpace-coaching/).
Antoine is fluent in French, Arabic, English and Spanish. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance and International Business from McGill University and an MBA from INSEAD.
Host: Rahima Valji (MBA 03D) has launched new products, businesses and innovation programmes across three continents as a strategic growth and innovation advisor to CEOs and leadership teams. She focuses on helping corporates and scaleups grow, through innovation, scaling and international expansion and by building strategic partnerships and relationships. She spent a recent gap year eating and cooking her way around the world, ending up as a guest chef in an Italian restaurant in Mozambique feeding CEOs, ambassadors and Italians! All of them are still alive.
