Opera Holland Park
Thursday 21 June
This event is supported by Opera Holland Park
Join us for a magical midsummer night at the opera. We will sit under an outdoor canopy, set against the stunning backdrop of the ruins of the historic Holland House, for the spectacle of Verdi’s La traviata performed by the renowned Opera Holland Park. Prior to the performance, we will enjoy an exclusive reception indoors at which Charles Mackay CBE (MBA 69), Chair of the opera’s trustees and General Director Mike Volpe will speak.
The opera, based on the brief life of the celebrated courtesan Marie Duplessis, scandalised Venice and London before it became the world’s best-loved opera. Set in the champagne-fuelled demi-monde of Paris, containing some of the most famous arias and choruses ever written, La traviata is a story of secrets and sacrifice.
Our speakers will give you a great insight into this unique opera company and have their own fascinating stories to tell.
