PE & VC Group
Inside a successful private equity portfolio company
Tuesday 16 May
This event is supported by Evercore
Gilles Nouailhetas tells the story of Cadum, a well-established and much-loved French soap brand, which he and his colleague Jean Marie Total bought out from Colgate Group. Their purchase, worth €2m in 2003, was backed by French private equity funds CDC and CIC. In 2006, Gilles and Jean Marie were joined by Milestone, to pursue a buy and build strategy to extend the brand into the areas of baby products, deodorants and bath and shower products. Cadum was sold to L’Oreal for €200m in 2012, providing a remarkably high return on investment.
Gilles is an entrepreneur with a background in product and brand management. He worked at United Biscuits and Sara Lee before joining Gemini Consulting, then running Cadum. He is now the founder and owner of Nec Plus Ultra Cosmetics.
