With the rise of private debt funds and the keen interest of LPs for these yielding strategies, how is the financing market split today? Is it still possible to make money? Three key players in the market will discuss these questions.
Blair Jacobson is a Partner and Co-Head of European Credit in the Ares Credit Group and a member of the management committee of Ares Management. He also serves on the boards of Ares Management Limited and Ares Management UK Limited. Additionally, Mr. Jacobson serves on the Ares Credit Group’s European Direct Lending and European Liquid Credit Investment Committees. Prior to joining Ares in 2012, Mr. Jacobson was a Partner at The StepStone Group, following time as a Partner at Citigroup Private Equity and Mezzanine Partners in London and New York. In addition, he has held a variety of roles in investment banking and mergers and acquisitions in a broad range of industries, most recently at Lehman Brothers. Blair holds a MBA from Chicago Booth School of Business.
Richard Clarke-Jervoise is Head of Private Equity at Stonehage Fleming Private Equity Ltd and serves as an Investment Manager of Private Equity at FF&P Asset Management Ltd. He works on private equity proposition and full range of illiquid investment strategies. Prior to joining the firm, Richard was the Senior Manager and Managing Director – Fund of Funds at Quartilium S. Previously he worked as a Managing Director at ACG Capital. Prior to which he spent time as an Investment Director at Access Capital Partners, an Associate at PROPARCO SA and as an Executive Officer at Barclays Capital PLC. Richard holds a MSc in Economics from the University of London.
Daniel Johar is Head of Capital Markets, European Leveraged Finance at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation. He is a member of the senior leadership team and sits on the investment committee for all capital markets matters. He has responsibility for a team which raises loan capital for leveraged buyouts. The team focuses on syndicating and distributing loans to third party banks and institutional investors via the capital markets and has analysed, evaluated and closed numerous deals in differing sectors, jurisdictions and size over the last five years. Daniel has financed over $15bn in loan value and has a proven record in backing performing assets.
