Real estate is the world’s largest asset classes and is more valuable than all stocks/shares and securitised debt/bonds combined. Residential property comprises almost three quarters of global real estate’s value and is the world’s largest asset class in its own right. Rent collection from the Private Residential Sector remained resilient throughout the pandemic demonstrating the counter-cyclicality appeal of the segment. The pandemic accelerated a tremendous shift to home working and hybrid modes of working and travelling. As a result, the residential sector has seen the biggest rise in investment volumes of any real estate asset class in Europe over the last investment cycle. The serviced apartment and co-living sectors are also seeing sustained investment underpinned by the needs of residents to have the buildings they occupy provide them with a wide range of amenities and services.
