Iliana Deevska (MBA 14D) is a Director in the advisory arm of CBRE, the largest global real estate services provider. She advises institutional investors on their real estate strategies and leads investments into real estate private equity funds. She has allocated capital across core, value add and debt strategies. Prior to joining CBRE, Iliana worked as a risk manager for NIBC Bank in The Netherlands with focus on lending in asset-heavy industries, including real estate and infrastructure. She holds a MSc in Business Economics from the University of Amsterdam, an MBA degree from INSEAD, and is a CFA Level 3 Candidate.
Omega Poole (MBA 09J) is a partner in the Real Estate Group at Mishcon de Reya and head of the Debt Advisory practice. Originally practising as a corporate tax lawyer following her MBA, she moved out of law to work at a property developer, a leading real estate lender and CBRE, before coming back into legal private practice over six years ago to help develop a hybrid legal commercial practice. She also co-leads the Real Estate Group’s ESG initiatives, working closely with Mishcon Purpose. Omega is a practising solicitor and has an MA (CANTAB) and an MBA from INSEAD.
Valentina Shegoyan (MBA 10J) is the Managing Partner at REACH UK, the latest international expansion of the award-winning NAR REACH program created by Second Century Ventures, a strategic technology investment fund backed by the National Association of Realtors. Valentina started her career in real estate more than fifteen years ago, has a unique skill set spanning real estate development, direct investments and private equity, investment banking and financial advisory, strategy and technology. As part of the REACH global team, Valentina works closely with property technology startups launching into UK real estate.
Ruslan Shopov (MBA 14D) has over 11 years’ experience in real estate. He is currently an associate banker in the real estate investment team at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development’s headquarters in London. His experience covers all real estate asset classes as well as direct investments across the capital stack – senior loans, equity, IPOs, bonds, LP in private equity funds. Ruslan also supervises EBRD’s existing portfolio of LP investments in private equity real estate funds. He has been the project leader of transactions from Poland to the Middle East. Ruslan started his career as an investment consultant at Cushman & Wakefield’s office in Bulgaria. He holds a bachelor degree in Economics and Political Science from the American University in Bulgaria, an MBA from INSEAD and is a CFA charterholder.
Moderator: Rekha Toora (MBA 11D) has worked in the real estate finance sector since 2007. Currently exploring her next opportunity, Rekha’s most recent role was as Chief Investment Officer of Qbic hotels, a portfolio company of Cerberus Capital Management where she was responsible for implementing and delivering a pan-European acquisition strategy. Rekha’s prior experience includes four years in the real estate lending division of Investec Bank and also in a UK-based family office which over a four year period acquired more than £1.6bn of real estate. Rekha is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and has an MBA from INSEAD.
