It’s difficult to pick up a newspaper and not read the headlines of yet another retailer struggling to survive in a market where on-line disruption and over capacity of physical space are leaving a trail of destruction. John Rogers, CEO of Argos, will discuss what it takes to survive and win in this new retail world. Argos has always been a business that has challenged the traditional retail models. John will explore topics ranging from what it takes to be a true omni-channel retailer; to digital transformation; to the truth behind machine learning/AI and data-analytics; to exploring ‘what Amazon can’t do’.
John Rogers (MBA’97J) has been CEO of Sainsbury’s Argos since Sept 2016. Prior to this he was CFO of Sainsbury’s Plc for over six years and has been a member of the Sainsbury’s Plc Board and Sainsbury’s Bank Board since 2010. He is also a non-executive director of Travis Perkins Plc. He has extensive experience in digital transformation and what it takes to bring about cultural change in large-scale organisations.
