What is the Future for Medtech?
Thursday 31 January

This event is sponsored by BonelliErede

The eco-system for medtech is changing. Although 95 per cent of medtech firms are said to be SMEs, the industry is consolidating while the pace of change is accelerating across technology, reimbursement and regulation. Digital changes are putting more power in the hands of the patient/consumer. Supply chains are being disrupted, and the lines appear to be blurring between medicine and technology, with the potential to fundamentally redefine business models.

To help address what this means for medtech providers, we have speakers with real-world business experience in this complex sector:

André-Michel Ballester (MBA 83D) was CEO of Italian medtech firm Sorin Spa which he successfully merged with Houston-based Cyberonics in a $2.7bn transaction to form LivaNova, a NASDAQ-quoted company based in London. The company concentrates on medical technology in the cardiovascular and neuromodulation areas.

Vincenzo Salvatore is a Professor of European Union Law and Of Counsel and leader of the Healthcare and Life sciences Focus Team at international law firm BonelliErede with offices in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He is a former head of legal services at the European Medicines Agency.

Moderator: Carlo Montenovesi (MBA 79) is the Founder of Cross Border Capital Markets, a corporate finance boutique, and Cross Border BIOSALUS, a pharmaceutical and healthcare specialist advisor. Based in London and Milan, he is a former President of the INSEAD Alumni Association Italy.
