Wine Tasting with Ákos Forczek, Founder & CEO of Top Selection Wines
Friday 29 May 20:00-21:00
We would like to invite you to a virtual wine tasting on Zoom. In the true spirit of INSEAD, this wine tasting will challenge you, while still keeping you close to your comfort zone, but above all it is aimed to delight you. These wines represent what INSEAD stands for: multiculturalism.
You will receive a case of 4 btls that will contain these wines:
Champagne Brice Bouzy Grand Cru 2012 – An unparalleled value for money vintage champagne from the famous Bouzy Grand Cru vineyards, made by the fifth generation of the Brice family. I have been working in the champagne business since 1992, but I have not found anything that compares to this champagne at this level.
Kanta Riesling 2015 – Adelaide Hills – Made by the undisputed king of Riesling, Egon Muller, in Adelaide. This will open your eyes to what an Australian dry Riesling can taste like when made by a German winemaker.
Calera Pinot Noir 2016 – Central Coast, CA – Made by the legendary Josh Jensen, the man the top Burgundy producers call “Monsieur Pinot Noir des Etats Unis”. He learned how to make wine at the Domaine de la Romanee Conti in Burgundy in 1970/1971, the temple of Burgundy. I have an Old World taste, but this is a truly delicious wine!
Szarka Tokaji Late Harvest 2017, half bottle – as I am Hungarian, I had to include a delicious, easy drinking wine from Tokaj.
It’s likely that one or two winemakers will join the call from their wineries.
Ákos Forczek (MBA 97J) is Founder and Chairman of Top Selection Wines and 9elmswines. In 2018 and 2019, the UK sommeliers gave Top Selection UK Fine Wine Merchant of the Year award, in recognition of the highest concentration of quality wines they have ever seen in any wine Portfolio in the UK, an accolade never before given to the same business two years in a row.
Prior to INSEAD Akos worked for LVHM at Hennessy Cognac and Moet & Chandon Champagne, developing their Eastern European distribution after the fall of the Soviet Union. He was one of the very rare students who didn’t come from banking or consulting prior to studying at INSEAD. As part of his commitment to the school and its students, Akos has asked that a donation to the school is made by attendees of this event.
The ticket price will include the wines outlined above, which will be delivered to your home address (UK only), online wine tasting and £20 will be donated to the INSEAD Dean’s /Greatest Impact Fund.
