Ever wondered what those small
and
orange rectangles on the web were for?
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication (fuller definition) and basically pulls news and information on the web for you in one place instead of having to read a gazillion sites separately.
You do need to have a feed reader, click here for a list.
Did you know that the following research databases at INSEAD offer RSS feeds? Business Insights, Factiva, Forrester, ISI emerging markets, ISI web of Knowledge, UCal eScholarship Repository.
More importantly did you know that this blog offers it as well? Just click on the RSS link at the bottom of the right frame and copy the URL in your RSS reader.

I am trying to set up feeds from the following journals:
– Journal of Consumer Research
– Journal of Marketing Research
– Journal of Marketing
– Psychological Science
I would like to get it directly from the journals, but I can’t find a way of doing it.
Do I need to create a search in EBSCO?
Suggestion:
To conveniently receive your RSS, use the FIREFOX 2.0 Web Browser. It also offers a Plug-in called ZOTERO that will detect the citation in the webpage and allow you to save the citation and the full-text of the article and much more…

Hello Dilney,
Thanks for your messages and the tip about Zotero.
All the titles you mention can be access on our Business Source Complete database.
Once in BSC, click on the “Publications” link and type the journal title in the browse search box.
The RSS icon will appear to the left of the result. Click it and paste the RSS URL into your reader.
I hope this helps, don’t hesitate to contact us again if you need more details.

Can I use the RSS to link to a database search so that it will update results from a particular search – eg any news about teleco AND South Africa ? or can i only link to a particular journal?
Thanks!
Rhoda,
Yes, databases such as Ebsco’s Business Source Complete allow you to receive search alerts via RSS feeds. Just click on the “Create alert for this search” RSS icon to get started. Not all databases provide this feature; see our toolbox page at http://www.insead.edu/library/toolbox/toolbox_RSS.cfm for more information.
