INSEAD SIG Healthcare & Life Sciences Event
“Creating Psychological Safety in Healthcare: Lessons from Other Industries”
with:
Karen Kruijthof (Board Member Amsterdam UMC)
Kim Koppenol (Director Communications RTL Nederland)
Barbara Westerveld (Lead Psychological Safety ABN AMRO)
Psychological safety is a pressing challenge in healthcare. Hierarchies, high workload, (time) pressure, and life-or-death decisions make staff vulnerable to fear, burnout and harassment, while the diverse, multi-cultural nature of care adds complexity. This is further amplified by the sensitive, dependent relationships between patients and caregivers, making it even more critical to create an environment where both staff and patients feel safe, respected and heard. For healthcare leaders, fostering such a climate is both essential and daunting.
In this INSEAD SIG Healthcare & Life Sciences event, Karen Kruijthof (Amsterdam UMC) will share the challenges and blind spots her organization faces in fostering psychological safety, Kim Koppenol (RTL Nederland) will discuss how RTL rebuilt trust and safety after revelations of sexual harassment at The Voice and its sector-wide impact and Barbara Westerveld (ABN AMRO) will reflect on her six-year journey to create a speak-up culture in banking. We’ll conclude with breakout discussions to translate the lessons both ways, what healthcare can adopt and what other industries can learn from healthcare.
