The future of leadership
Why the best don’t always want to lead
Kindly hosted by Egon Zehnder

Many young professionals are ready and able to step into leadership roles. But do they actually want to?

In the Egon Zehnder article “What If the Best Don’t Want to Lead?” and the book “Navigating Your Career”, Sikko Onnes, Ron Soonieus and Remond Jasperse describe a growing disconnect. People act responsibly and perform strongly, yet still hold back from taking formal leadership roles.

The cost of leadership has changed, more scrutiny, more trade-offs, more politics. Many hesitate, not because of a lack of ambition or ability, but because they are unsure what leadership will demand of their time, energy and values.

Join us for an evening to explore:

  • Why talented people hesitate to take on visible leadership roles
  • How leaders today experience pressure, purpose and public exposure
  • How you can think about your own leadership choices and career path

Bring a young professional

For this event, we encourage you to bring a young professional, a mentee, colleague or family member who has recently graduated or is in the first years of their career. It’s a chance to hear honest stories, ask direct questions and reflect together on what leadership could look like for them.
