Real Estate Group
Capital Markets & Structural Trends
Wednesday 21 January, 18:30 – 21:30
This event is supported by BlackRock
Real Estate is at an inflection point. Our panel will explore the major trends currently shaping the sector:
• Real Estate is going through its biggest transition since the electrification of buildings in the 1920s.
• Investors are diversifying away from the US towards Europe and APAC.
• Investors are doing more with less.
• After a 25–35% peak-to-trough repricing, real estate markets have undergone a substantial reset, opening a different phase in the cycle.
• Demographic shifts, the growth of e-commerce, the rise of AI, geopolitical fragmentation, and the transition to a low-carbon built environment are reshaping the real estate landscape. These mega forces are influencing what we build, where capital flows, how assets are operated, and which sectors will outperform over the next decade.
• Real estate is becoming more operational, with value increasingly driven by active management rather than passive ownership.
Moderator: Thomas Mueller-Borja is BlackRock’s Global Co-Head of Real Estate, Global CIO for Value-Add Real Estate, and Co-Portfolio Manager for its European value-add fund series, having invested over $5 billion across EFIV, EFV and EFVI.
