POSTPONED: Explore the lesser-known Wines of France
Wednesday 24 May, 18:00 – 21:30
This event is a joint event with ESSEC Alumni

Everyone has heard of wine from Burgundy and Bordeaux but what about Jura and Jurançon? Join us for a relaxed tasting of some of the wonderful wines made in France’s lesser-known regions, from obscure pockets of the Loire Valley to the rocky Pyrenean foothills. Enjoy a selection of artisan cheese and charcuterie as well as a seven-glass flight of wine. Hosted by the Wine & Spirit Education Trust School London, the country’s top wine school, this informal tasting will be led by a wine expert who will transport you to vineyards and help you discover some new favourite wines.

The evening will be hosted by Sam Povey, a wine educator from Aberdeen, Scotland. He first discovered his interest in wine at university and pursued it by travelling to Georgia and his local wine shop. Before joining the industry, he was an economics tutor but fell into wine when he took a job behind the bar at an urban winery. He then moved into wine and food retail in north London: managing wine lists, hosting tastings and training staff. Today, he teaches the WSET Levels 1-2 Awards in Wines and hosts events at WSET School London.
