Relationships between boards members can make or break your organisation, but well-functioning relationships take skill and effort to maintain. Join Joy Harcup and Helen Hopper, authors of The Secret Life of Boards, for a fascinating look at the psychology behind individual and group behaviour in the boardroom and practical tactics and power tools for keeping your board dynamics healthy.

Based on their original research with board members across a range of sectors, industries and countries, this session includes:

• an outline of seven dysfunctional board dynamics and how to spot them
• insights into the psychological roots of relationship difficulties in the boardroom
• a deep-dive into a common dynamic
• practical advice from experienced board members for navigating challenges
• a simple, pick-up-and-use model for resolving board relationship issues
• an opportunity to exchange experiences and insights with your peers

Joy Harcup is an executive coach and board reviewer with the international coaching firm, Praesta LLP, working with individuals, top executive teams, and boards in the FTSE 100, financial services, public and not-for-profit sectors. Joy was President of the UK Board of the International Coaching Federation. A former lawyer specialising in dispute resolution, she has published academic research on the impact of coaching following her MBA from Bath University. She has sat on boards in the educational and not-for-profit sectors.

Helen Hopper trained in management consultancy with Accenture, and in occupational psychology with SHL, before co-founding leadership consulting firm HCubed in 2010.
