Tosca at Opera Holland Park
Tuesday 18 June, 18:00 – 22:30

This event is supported by Opera Holland Park

Join us for a magical early summer night at the opera. We will sit under an outdoor canopy, set against the stunning backdrop of the ruins of the historic Holland House for the spectacle of Giacomo Puccini’s Tosca.

Prior to the performance, we will enjoy an exclusive indoor reception with Charles Mackay CBE (MBA 69), Chair of the opera’s trustees and Member of the INSEAD Advisory Council, in the Ensemble Bar. There will be delicious wine and substantial canapés served so no need to plan dinner. The performance will take place under an open-sided canopy, so do bring a warm layer.

Set in the grit and glamour of 1960s Rome, Stephen Barlow’s acclaimed 2008 production of Tosca returns to Opera Holland Park for the centenary of Puccini’s death. Feared throughout the city, Scarpia, the corrupt chief of police, meets his match in the diva Floria Tosca, who must try to prevent the execution of her lover, Mario Cavaradossi, as a member of the resistance. Taut and terrifying, Puccini’s drama contains some of his most impassioned and original music for voice and orchestra.

South African soprano Amanda Echalaz returns to the role and staging that launched her international career. Portuguese tenor José de Eça makes his company debut as Mario Cavaradossi. Matthew Kofi Waldren conducts in his fourteenth engagement with the company since he joined the inaugural cohort of Opera Holland Park Young Artists.

Tickets are limited so do book early. Bookings close on 3 June.
